Nicole Lopez
Registered Psychologist
Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)
Registered: Perth Western Australia
Nicole is a psychologist with over fifteen years of experience working with adolescents and adults across public, private, and not-for-profit mental health settings.
Person-centred in the truest sense, Nicole takes time to understand the individuals she works with, their lived experiences, and what they hope to gain from therapy. She approaches the therapeutic process with warmth, curiosity, and respect, recognising that meaningful psychological work begins with feeling safe, understood, and genuinely met where you are.
Nicole has experience supporting clients across a broad range of presentations and challenges, including complex trauma, PTSD, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, dissociative disorders, substance use concerns, grief and loss, major life transitions, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, personality disorders, sleep and fatigue concerns, chronic pain, and functional neurological disorder.
Having worked clinically in FIFO settings, Nicole understands some of the unique pressures and relational impacts that can arise from working away. She also has extensive experience working with culturally and sexually diverse clientele and values creating a therapeutic space that is inclusive, affirming, and grounded in genuine human connection.
Therapeutic Approach
Nicole brings a warm and genuine presence to the work she does. Her approach is integrative and grounded in the belief that meaningful work observes the delicate balance between acceptance and the pursuit of change. She provides high quality, ethical psychological care to her clients; placing particular importance on the therapeutic relationship and its power to support greater insight, self-compassion, emotional understanding, and a stronger relationship with oneself.
Adopting a collaborative, whole-person approach, Nicole welcomes the uniqueness of each person, their lived experiences, fears, hopes, values, and strengths. She tailors therapy to the individual and what feels meaningful and sustainable for them; creating a space for honesty, reflection, insight, and new movement.
Her work integrates a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including:
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Parts-work therapies (e.g., Internal Family Systems)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Existential Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
- Body-based and nervous system-informed approaches (e.g., Sensorimotor Psychotherapy)
