Tiffany Ha
Psychotherapist and Counsellor for Individuals and Couples
Perth, Western Australia
Drawing on years of training and experience, I use evidence-based practices combined with an intuitive, creative sensibility shaped by both my lived experience and many hours in the therapist's chair. I have supported clients with:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Low self-esteem
- Relationship difficulties
- Family of origin issues
- Attachment wounding
- Trauma
- Stress and burnout
- Grief and loss
- Race and cultural identity challenges
- Ambivalence around having children
- Neurodivergence
Each session begins with curiosity and open awareness. As we work toward your specific therapeutic goals, I'll guide you to discover and integrate parts of yourself that may have been outside of awareness. This process is often surprising, sometimes challenging, and always worthwhile. As Carl Jung said, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."
My approach is grounded in Gestalt Therapy principles such as sharpening awareness, cultivating greater presence in relation to others, and developing more adaptive, intentional ways to respond to your current situation. Depending on your needs, I may also incorporate elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic and Existential Psychotherapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, coaching, and experiential learning. As an identity-affirming practitioner, I seek to understand you as an individual body-mind within the context of your family, community, and culture.
I also offer couples and relationship counselling for romantic partnerships and family dyads (such as parent-child or sibling relationships). Click here to learn more about my approach to couples and relationship therapy.
Outside of therapy, I wear many hats – pianist, singer, composer, teacher, yogi, business owner, friend, daughter, and auntie. Born in Australia to Chinese-Vietnamese refugees, I've learned to embrace the joys and challenges of living life fully: finding one's own way with no roadmap, yet many fellow travellers to talk with along the journey. This, together with a spiritual ancestry rooted in Buddhism and Taoist philosophy, has given me a nonjudgmental, compassionate, and grounded presence that clients often appreciate.
You can hear me speak about the connection between my music and therapy practices in this interview on Vision Australia Radio: Music and Therapy.
I offer both in-person and online sessions for adults and adolescents (15+). I am currently accepting new clients, including employees of The Kids Research Institute (through EAP) and NDIS participants. No referral is required.
