Leonie worked as a psychologist in Melbourne for 25 years before moving to Perth in 2008. This transition has provided personal insight into the challenges of leaving home, and the tasks involved in making a new life. She has established a successful private practice incorporating the broad range of skills acquired over a long career. She has a particular interest in working with people undergoing transitions from one life stage to another. She is an experienced counsellor of same-sex attracted adolescents and adults. She is interested in the challenges of fulfilling sexual expression within relationships, including supporting women and men with low libido, sexual addictions, and fidelity issues.

Leonie has worked successfully in both short term counselling and long term psychotherapy. She believes that significant change can occur with short interventions, but that deeper psychological exploration impacts on general well being and long term health. An important foundation of her work is establishing a respectful, non-judgemental and safe relationship. She approaches therapy from a heart-centred perspective, believing that an authentic dialogue is a very healing experience.

Leonie has special skills in grief counselling. She is also now using her hypnotherapy skills to treat anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and a range of other issues that lend themselves to this treatment approach.
